Machining HUGE 10 Ton Bevel Gear with CNC Milling Machine

4. I used to run a machine much bigger than this. Lot of responsibility and stress.

8. I think one of the most interesting aspects of machining on this scale is the ability to control the inertia moving these heavy pieces and maintain tolerances. Either incredibly powerful actuators and screw gears, or very complex calculations.

9. Wow! This bevel gear is really huge! Maybe we can learn from each other. We have made double helical and spur gears that are slightly smaller in size.

10. Who needs them for what?

12. Hard to believe how far we have come. Less than 200 years ago we were plowing ground with a piece of wood.

46. Incredible manufacturing. It's a bit of a pity though that you couldn't have interviewed someone there to ask questions on the small details you didn't know.
