This is super cool: a handheld CNC router that uses computer vision to let you see exactly what you’re cutting through the bit, and compensates for any shaky hand movement with automatic stabilization. We visit Shaper to learn about the Origin and test out its features!

hi !! i would like to do designs on door panels of solid wood. can we do this with shaper origin ? who is dealer in India ?
Great cordless tool. Powerful enough for what I was doing MyBest.Tools Bought to make it easier to cut out windows after plywooding exterior. Takes a little getting use to but overall great tool.
It will ruin all the fun.
I think you can do it yourself, just watch and learn from Woodprix.
Cool video. However, you should take instructions from Stodoys if you want to learn how easy it is to do.
Woodglut plans are amazing!
Make it wooden with the help of the Woodglut instructions.
Hey, This is a good video here. The most useful woodworking projects that I have ever used was Toms Magic Wood (just google it). Without a doubt it contains the most incredible woodworking plans that I have ever tried.
Seen this on applied science, such a cool thing, I'm sure it's so much fun to play around with
The host is terrible, it seems that he's not really listening at all, ignores recommendations given by the machine's builder, no charisma, not intelligent and ignorant… how come he's with Savage's team?
I’m thinking of getting one of these… can you buy the machine to put the dewalt router like your using on there ???
My jaw dropped. That never happens lol. Such an awesome idea!
This is a trim router = it appears to be a very expensive engraver, and for small light cuts only. Not comparable to a CNC
shut up and take my money
18:40 that stepped cut doesn't look really alligned.
Really cool !
No idea what I'd do with it, but I know that I want one!
How about a large 3D relief? Lol
Let's all help our robots to do their job!
Seems worthless product
Shut up and take my money
$2500 for a router vs purchasing a CNC router for less than $2500. Makes no sense.
Wow. That's impressive.
Very cool. Takes freehand to a new level.
The tape is not so low cost!
and 2 years later still unavailable….
You could easily Customize bedrooms with names into floors right at the threshold or entrance of the room and Color or wood inlay it. The possibilities are huge with this invention in terms of being able to customize or personalize things. You could set this on any wood surface and put someone’s name into it perfectly.
Hardwood floors, you could machine anything into a hardwood floor with this. Not just compass arrows or stars. Whatever you wanted. Imagine being able to machine into a basketball court floor a teams logo and with shop machined wood fill in those spaces.
THE COST IS CRAZY … JUST BUY A CNC ROUTER
Seeing the screen through the process would have been helpful. Felt like watching radio.
5:47 Dirty Bugger, surely that moisture will short out the electronics??
This seems like one of those projects that is a great accomplishment but that serves no real purpose in the real world. Having to babysit the machine kind of cancels out the benefits of a CNC which frees up the workers time to accomplish other tasks. You did it. you made a tool that any idiot can hold and make accurate cuts. Problem is only an idiot would need it.
Big chain like Home Depot should buy them to rent out. I will one such customer to rent for a once a while curve cut. Can some one show us how smooth is the cut?
Hello Friends and Neighbors,
If you use my referral code, saving us both $100.00, I will make you 5 SVG templates in Inventor or Illustrator. Here is my link https://preorder.shapertools.com/ref/T2KBL3TEQ. Send me a message if you use my code and let me know what projects you want to make with your Shaper Origin. Cheers!
As long as the routing is precise, then it worths the money if you are in the wood worker that has to build thing in the job site. Of Course, everyone wants a low priced machine but it is simply not in this industry. A hand held edge banding machine, which basically is a heat iron and cutter together, is more expensive than this .
BTW, I really want to see a review of how round a circle can be made and the smoothness of the edge this machine makes.
Note: I owned a operate 5'x9' CNC and it needs tons of technical knowledge to run it. However, the usage is totally different. The full size one can be used for large volume production while this one a perfect fit for custom wood work on site.
