For my next project I am going to use a router to cut a lot of straight lines. To make my life easier, I decided to make a jig so I can quickly and accurately set up a fence.
This jig is super simple to make and it will save me a lot of set up time in the future!

Great jig. Love the outtake outro. "Yes, that makes sense." ?
Great vid, thank you
Very good demonstration of how it's done. Thank you.
Genial !
Hi Tamar, I would very much like to know what are those hold down clamps you use in this video? Are they inserted into bench dog holes because that’s the way it appears in the video. Thank you very much in advance for your reply and keep up the great work because I have learned so much from you. Thank you Robert
O.M.G – ????????? you are soooooooo, soooooo, sooooo, soo very very very, much nice and sweeeeeeet ????????
Great jig and a really well presented video. Thanks for sharing.
I have to say, this is my favorite jig you have made, love it, cheers!
Are Makita routers good?
left to right tip thanks!
Made this today. It works great!! Thank you!
Hinge can give a problem for straight cuts as router base is touching hinge part rather than wood part
Great video and explanation.
This is awesome. I'm going to make one for my circ saw and jig saw.
LOL!!! YOU DESERVE NOBEL PRIZE
I like it but don’t get the reasons for the piano hinge. Why not just cut a board the width of the centre of the router to the edge and just lay that against a flat edge and clamp that down?
I love the outake. I use a simple trick to find out which way to run the router. Just spread you thumb and the forefinger to 90 degrees and looking at your backhand. When pointing with the thumb to the side to cut at, your forefinger is pointing to the right direction running the router to. Hope that can help.
Excellent! Thanks for the video!
Beauty and brains, powerful combination.
Great video! I’m making it as well. Thank you!
GREAT JOB!! THANKS FOR SHARING
Totally not about this video although your AWESOME ? What is the wood you use it always looks so smooth and clean cut is is it birch
I just did this for my dewalt plunge router. My issue was that the base of my router was riding on the piano hinge so it was a bit annoying. I’m thinking for the bigger routers maybe it’s best to use 1” thick wood instead of 3/4 so the hinge portion won’t touch the base and be above the base. Any thoughts Tamar? Btw it did still cut pretty accurately so this is a great easy jig.
Do you use this to score a cut along a board before cutting on a table saw in order to minimize chipout?
Thanks for the great instructions!
Great
You could also make one for your cirkula saw…
Easy way to get the measurement from outer edge of baseplate to center of the bit: Your router baseplate is a circle, measure the diameter of the circle, divide by two.
Awesome!!
I love your content! To find the center you could also use a vernier to measure the diameter and divide by 2, correct?
Love it Hannah, so simple yet so effective.
