Hey Everyone!
My parents just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and I wanted to make a sign in honor of them. I chose some nice cedar boards. I then sanded and edge glued them all together. I then picked out a font for the sign and made a chalk transfer to the wood. I am still new to making signs and I learned a lot with this one. I would change how I masked the area for paint. After I finished the project, a friend mentioned a method to spray some lacquer onto the sign BEFORE painting the dark areas. This eliminates the bleeding and allows you to sand off the over spray easier.
I really enjoy freehand routing as this is a personal hand made piece and shouldn’t be PERFECT. I did get the Milescraft Compact Sub Router Base which made life really easy for the routing. Check it out in the links below.
I am excited to make some more signs in the future!
Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more videos!

You must have ice water running though your veins. Love your work. Just getting started in carving thanks for the Inspiration.
Hi what router please thanks
How did you start routing if there's no plunge base and was this all done with only one straight bit?
What stencils/ font did you use for this? Really love the work here! ?
Slow down Mr. Toooo fast to appreciate anything.
Great work! AWESOME! I've been using 3.175mm CNC bits to outline my work and then 3.175mm end milling bits for clean out. It works but it takes more time to and doesn't come out as
nice. Can you please point me in the direction on where and what size and type bits to purchase?
Thank you so much!
Very good ur parents are pride of you, keep it up son.
Hi, great video. I just wondered how you create the more sharp /straighter/thinner/smaller parts of the letters? TIA.
Great to see it. I did it too. The plans from Woodglut helped me a lot 🙂
You inspired me, my fellow content creator! I made my first one! Just posted check it out. love your work.
Great video and beautiful sign. I’m sorry if this was asked already. But what router bits would your recommend for starting out? I also have a router that take 1/4 shank.
Would say using the handheld is better than a full router?
What's the name of the brand of router?
What bit are u using for sharp corners on letters
What bit did you use for this?
Nice job!!! Was that new base for plunge set up as well?
You make it look too simple
Great job
I have a trim router (makita copy) do u have to attach a different base so you can see the bit easier
What bits did you use
Great work! How did you cut out the tape prior to painting?
What model of trim router are you using please?
Mantap boos.
Excellent job man..How did u transfer the lettering to the cedar?
What the diameter of the bit that you use to carve the date? And also, what smallest diameter of milling bit that you ever used? Thanks!
Excellent. This is something I need to do. One thing I've done on previous projects where different levels are painted with a colour, is to spray or brush a first clear coat all over and letting it dry before masking for the colour. This prevents colour bleeding into the surrounding wood, and any colour that gets under the mask at the edges can be sanded away easily. The end result is a much crisper transition.
In engraving by trimm router i should use it in feed dirction counterclockwise or i can neglect the feed direction when i use it in engraving?
You make it look so easy! This is on my list of things i want to learn.
What size it were you using? and was that the only it you used?
You can use woodprix plans. The best handbooks and very detailed instructions. You can learn much from them and make it yourself.
I have a variable speed router and I was wondering if what you used was, as well? And if so, what setting do you have it set to?
Excellent work
When you use the router to engraving you have directon feed or not? because i know the when i use router to trimmer edge i must know the feeding direction
What bits did you use?
What type bit did you use for the small letters
I dont like cnc videos, it's nothing to do with the content owners skill, this however is much more about Your skill. I am truly inspired to have a go myself now. Thank You.
Just bought a router and some bits. Looks like it’s going to be relaxing and fun making signs.
Nice job on the sign. Can you share what font you used and a little more info on the chalk transfer method??
Nicely done!
Great job
